About

Poet, mother, thinker, cook, teacher, tutor, Christian . . . or not. Wife, Democrat, Hoosier, Cracker, . . .

I ‘ve lived in Florida, Indiana, New York and Massachusetts, even Thailand for awhile. I work at an art college but I’m not a visual artist; that’s my husband’s job. My daughter is theatrical and lives far away. I do consider myself a poet–some of my work I’m even very proud of.

In second grade, my story was chosen as one of the two best in my class and I decided to be a writer, but I’ve always been hesitant–afraid of rejection, sure I couldn’t really succeed, even a little lazy. But life inches slowly but inexorably past and I know it’s now or never.

My qualifications to write on these categories are various. I have a degree in Religion and a Master’s in English literature. I’m a life-long Christian who has practiced Kundalini yoga. When my brother-in-law visited for Christmas, he said, “Boy, you’ve got it covered: the Virgin of Guadalupe in the bathroom, Jesus on the front door and some Hindu god on the bedspread.” And that’s not all, Avalokitesvara, waves his multiple arms above the dining table and for the present. I’m spiritually eclectic.

I’ve taught in colleges for many years, sung in choirs for many years, been married–and a mother–for many years. But I’ve only been a blogger for half an hour now.
